Below you will find lots of local holiday events, including some drive-in and virtual events.  Stay safe and have a great holiday season!

Holiday Magic at the Brandywine River Museum

Returning this year with some exciting new additions is the Brandywine Railroad, the famous O-gauge display, slightly modified this year to provide a safe and socially distant experience. You can also see Ann Wyeth McCoy’s dollhouse, which features six rooms filled with three-dozen dolls and hundreds of miniature objects that will delight visitors of all ages. The Brandywine’s whimsical Critter ornaments, handcrafted by our volunteers at home this year, will also be back to decorate the towering trees in the Museum’s three-story atrium*, as well as thousands of these unique treasures that will be available for purchase during the annual Holiday Critter Sale—including a few “classics” that can now be purchased online for the first time.

Hershey Park Christmas Candyland

The magic of the holidays comes to life at Hersheypark Christmas Candylane. With two million twinkling lights, rides for all ages, festive decorations, and Hershey's Product Characters decked out in their holiday best, there is something for all to enjoy! 

Christmas Around The Farm & Christmas Open House At Linvilla

We transform the Garden Center into a Winter Wonderland, featuring Santa and his Elves, handmade wreaths, greens and holly, and a sea of poinsettias. Shop an enormous selection of timeless holiday decorations, children’s toys, and collectibles you won't find anywhere else!

Garden Railway at Morris Arboretum
November 27th - December 31st

Visitors of all ages will be wowed by a quarter-mile of track featuring seven loops and tunnels with fifteen different rail lines and two cable cars, nine bridges (including a trestle bridge you can walk under), and bustling model trains, all set in the lovely winter garden. The display and buildings are all made of natural materials to form a perfectly proportioned miniature landscape complete with small streams. Each building, while an exact replica of the original, is unique in its design. Philadelphia-area landmarks such as a masterpiece replica of Independence Hall are made using pine cone seeds for shingles, acorns as finials, and twigs as downspouts.

Christmas Village in Philadelphia

Located at LOVE Park and City Hall from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve in 2020
An outside Holiday market event, which is modeled after the traditional Christmas Markets in Germany. Vendors in more than 60 wooden booths will sell traditional European food, sweets, and drinks. They will also offer a great shopping experience with international holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry, and high-quality arts and crafts.

Sesame Place A Very Furry Christmas
November 21st - January 3rd

A festive, family-friendly celebration with everyone’s favorite Sesame Street® friends. The park is transformed into a one-of-a-kind Christmas wonderland with millions of twinkling lights and festive decorations all around.  At the center of our 1-2-3 Christmas Tree show is a 30-foot fully-illuminated pixel-based tree that will project festive animated images. At the same time, guests can dance along to a festive holiday soundtrack – all making for the ultimate light show experience!  Sing along at two special Christmas shows and take a train ride tour through the Twiddlebugs’ Gingerbread Cookie Factory on the Sesame Place Furry Express!


Santa's Stroll Through Downtown Media

Of course, we can't plan our traditional Santa's Parade in Media this year, but that doesn't mean you won't see lots of holiday cheer! Your Santa's Parade Committee is planning an extraordinary, socially-distant, drive-by event throughout the entire Borough! The star of the show, of course, Santa Claus! 

Santa's Arrival at Suburban Square

Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for a day of live music and pre-booked, socially-distant photo experiences! Things will be a little different this year, but the holiday magic remains the same.

Wilmington & Western Railroad - Santa Clause Express
Saturdays and Sundays November 27th  - December 23rd
Why stand in line at the mall and wait to see Santa when you can ride our train and have Santa come to you? The Jolly Old Elf himself rides the train, greets everyone on board, and gives all children a chocolate treat. Be sure to bring your camera and have Santa pose for pictures with your child during this 1½-hour round-trip to Ashland.


Herr’s Holiday Light Display

Come enjoy our FREE Holiday Lights Display from dusk to dawn. Drive through our corporate campus and over 600,000 dazzling lights.

Wild Lights At Elmwood Park Zoo
November 20 - December 30

Wild Lights, returns this holiday season with new lights and decorative attractions, and more animals on exhibit.  Take a stroll through “Oh” Christmas Tree, and be surrounded by a glistening forest, or visit with our big cats in Trail of the Jumping Jaguar. Each night of Wild Lights features live entertainment, unique animal encounters, performances, holiday music, and a chance to see Santa himself.

Oxford Country Christmas

Come to Downtown Oxford for the Annual Country Christmas Take Your Own Photos with Santa, Santa's Workshop, Tree lighting, Horse drawn carriages, Hay rides, Live Nativity, Live Holiday Music, and so much more! ENJOY HOLIDAY SHOPPING, DINING, AND THE MANY FREE KIDS ACTIVITIES ALL WITHIN THE CLOSED OFF STREETS OF DOWNTOWN OXFORD.

Holiday Light Show at Shadybrook Farms
Open EVERY NIGHT from Nov. 21st through Jan. 10th from 5 pm to 10 pm
Experience the magic of more than 3 million lights illuminating acres of farmland at the Shady Brook Farm Holiday Light Show! Encounter whimsical holiday displays and familiar characters.  Drive through in the comfort of your own car or enjoy the show in a private open-air wagon ride (weather permitting).

Peddler’s Villiage - Glow For The Holidays

This year, Peddler’s Village will celebrate the holiday season with a million lights on display in the Village, holiday shopping, food, and beverage specials. Also at Peddler’s this year: The Gingerbread Competition & Display returns with more than 70 creative entries (November 19, 2020 – January 9, 2021), and families can participate in Elf on the Stealth, an outdoor walking tour where visitors join Mrs. Clause in search of a missing elf (November 20, 2020 – January 10, 2021, weekends only). 

Drive-Through Merry & Bright Holiday Lights at Rockwood Park Display
December 4-6, 6-9 p.m.

Festive drive-through holiday light displays at Rockwood Park featuring colorful twinkling lights, holiday decorations, Santa sightings, and delightful surprises all from the comfort of your car on selected nights! All ages. FREE! Lights will remain on for drive-throughs following opening weekend for continued enjoyment. 

Dutch Wonderland Holiday Lights
December 2 - 31

Enjoy hundreds of thousands of holiday lights from the comfort of your car! This 1.5-mile journey through Old Mill Stream Campground is the perfect way to experience the magic of the season! Take in whimsical scenes, hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights, and special surprises.  Want to extend your visit? After you exit Old Mill Stream Campground, stop by the Dutch Wonderland castle for some holiday shopping, a cup of hot cocoa, and a socially-distanced photo with Santa! Plus, included with your admission, take a ride aboard Dutch Wonderland's famous Wonderland Special train!

Koziar's Christmas Villiage

Blue Cross River Rink Winter Fest

The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation is proud to continue to present a wintertime tradition in Philadelphia, as the Blue Cross River Rink will re-open for the 26th season on November 27th.

Brandywine River Museum - Polar Express Virtual Read-Aloud

Purchase Tickets:
All Aboard for an evening of fun! Join Brandywine Education staff for a virtual trip on "The Polar Express". Wear your comfiest pajamas, grab your favorite stuffed friend, and enjoy storytime, videos, games, and more! Designed for children ages 2-10 and their grown-ups. Each ticket is good for the entire family and includes downloadable activities.  

Virtual Seaport Parade of Lights
December 12th at 5:30 PM
Debuting on our social media platforms (and YouTube) at 5:30 p.m., the video will include fun holiday activities that can be done at home, cocktail (and mocktail!) recipes for everyone in your household, and, of course, a pre-recorded parade of boats decked out in their holiday finest parading along the Delaware River. Make sure you are following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so you won't miss the event!  You can also subscribe to our YouTube Channel and watch it there too.
